The Computer Services Department supports staff and students in the use of information technology resources. The department is responsible for ensuring the availability of these resources to meet the District’s mission, and vision.

The computer services team is highly skilled in installation, maintenance and direct user support for critical information systems such as accounting, human resources and student information; data and database management; user account management; and standard desktop office software applications. The team manages staff and student e-mail systems and is responsible for the continuing protection of technology resources from activities which would impair or deny their effective use. The Learning Institute prepares members and delivers staff training on the various administrative software systems currently used throughout the district.

The district highly skills specially trained technicians that operate under the direct management and supervision of a Lead Technician and the Technology Coordinator. Technicians carry out the daily installation, repair and maintenance of the district’s telecommunications infrastructure, server farms, desktop workstations and peripheral devices. Technicians perform all levels of maintenance on servers and computer systems and coordinate with vendors as necessary for repair types of equipment such as printers and telephone systems. Computer Services is also responsible for the installation and maintenance of all operating system and application software, including software used in support of classroom instruction.

Computer Services, under the direction of the Superintendent, provides centralized and distributed computing and telecommunications for academic, research and administrative use to support vision, mission and meet the needs of the faculty, staff and students at the Window Rock Unified School District No. 8.
