The purpose of the Indian Education Committee is to provide
improved educational opportunities under the Johnson O'Malley regulations
designed to meet the special needs of all Indian students and support the
development of those programs that meet the needs of all eligible Indian
children.
- The Indian Education
Committee (IEC) will ensure alignment of JOM activities and the
WRUSD #8 Dine Core Values.
- To identify and define
the role of the Indian Education Committee (IEC) in the
administration of Johnson O’Malley Program Funds.
- To incorporate and
coordinate Johnson O’Malley Program funds for the most
efficient and effective administration as per Federal, State, and
Tribal regulations.
- To establish and
maintain a close working relationship between the school and
community in the planning, development, implementation and
evaluation of educational programs through maximum involvement and
participation in the following activities:
A.
Continuation of needs assessment procedure
B.
Establishment of program priorities
C.
Assistance in the application procedures for securing funds for
Johnson O’Malley
D.
Dissemination of information at Chapter meetings and other
meetings, and
E.
Visitation and evaluation reports of Johnson O’Malley
educational programs.
- To make recommendations
to tribal and other officials regarding the development of tribal
and federal guidelines, policies, and rules and regulations for the
Johnson O’Malley Program.
